Thanks to you, we were able to replace a 1968 brush truck with a 2005 military 5-ton and equip it with up to date fire fighting equipment.
Your donations enable us to attend training that will make us better firefighters and help us save lives. A couple of years ago I attended the Abilene Fire Conference. They were offering a smoke reading class so I signed up. About a week after the class we were dispatched to a warehouse fire.
The fire was running along the rafters of the roof and we were doing everything we could to get to it. We made entry into the east side of the building while thick black smoke was pouring out of the building. We made entry and all of a sudden the smoke began to suck back into the building. I knew right then we had very little time to get out. I made the call to back out and as soon as my partner and I cleared the stairs something exploded.
It took several departments and several man hours to get this fire out. On overhaul, we came across an acetylene tank that had exploded exactly where I was standing. That class and donations from people just like you, saved my life.
We are grateful for everyone of you and would like to thank you for supporting us.

Start the new year safe by checking all the smoke detectors in your house or business. If you cannot remember when the batteries were last changed we would recommend replacing them. Most manufactures want you to test your smoke detectors monthly and they recommend replacing the batteries every year but always follow the manufacturer's instructions of your particular brand.
